SMITHS SECTRIC bakelite cased electric wall clock with 9 inch dial, 1953

The design of this clock dates to the mid-1940s. It was once a familiar sight in schools, hospitals, factories, stations and offices across the UK and Commonwealth.

This is a relatively early example, dated November 1949, in an outstanding state of preservation. It features the sought after smooth-sweeping red second hand. The dial is aluminium (steel was in short supply after the war), so there is none of the foxing and degradation associated with the thin steel dials of the period.

The clock runs on mains electricity and is driven by the reliable 'Bijou' synchronous motor. It keeps perfect time because it is synchronized to the frequency of the electricity supply.

The clock has been sensitively restored and is in excellent overall condition. It is supplied in full working order with instructions and guidance on aftercare.
