SMITHS Astral 8 day military gallery clock
Dated 1957

This is a fine example of the gallery clocks produced by Smiths for the MOD. The case is mahogany, with a mahogany ply back-box. There is the ghost of the broad-arrow on the dial - it was once desirable to remove such markings when they entered 'civilian' service!

The clock is driven by the beautiful and bomb-proof front winding, front regulating Astral movement with platform escapement, which will run for up to 10 days on a full wind.
