PHILIPS 'Challenge' 13.5 inch terrestrial globe, 1966

This is a large and impressive table globe from the British company Philips, dated 1966.

The globe is constructed from two pasteboard hemispheres with hand-applied composite paper gores, joined at the equator. It features the trademark Everite stepped black bakelite base with chromed and graduated meridian, and an aluminium time dial at the North Pole.

The map has been carefully cleaned and is in very good condition. There is uniform fading and some light marking and staining (mainly along the seams) but no damage or loss. The base and mount have also been cleaned and polished and are in excellent condition.
