GEOGRAPHIA 10 inch terrestrial globe, circa 1947

This is an excellent example of the larger (10") table globe from the British company Geographia. It can be dated to circa 1947 as Pakistan is shown (1947) but Israel is not (1948).

The globe is constructed from a pasteboard sphere with 12 hand-applied paper gores. It features the trademark 'jelly mould' base in dark green bakelite with a lacquered brass half meridian, polar bearings and finials.

The map retains good colour with minimal fading and no loss. There are areas of light staining, most notably along the seams, and a crease across Libya (almost certainly caused during manufacture - pictured) , but otherwise it is in a fine state of preservation.

The map and meridian have been carefully cleaned and the base has been polished. Overall the globe is in excellent vintage condition.
