BAUSCH & LOMB engraved gold rim Ful-Vue sunglasses, USA, 1930s

The design and craftsmanship of 1930s American eyewear was of the highest quality. Companies such as Bausch and Lomb and American Optical were producing fine gold-filled frames that would cost a small fortune today (there is 10 times more gold in gold-filled than gold-plated).

These sunglasses predate the Ray-Ban brand (introduced in 1937) and feature finely engraved 12K gold-filled frames with flexible temples, an Art-Deco inspired bridge detail and pearlised nose pads. The green mineral glass lenses are original and unblemished.

The sunglasses have been disassembled, thoroughly cleaned and polished and are in excellent condition.
